Whether you are looking for an entry to kayaking or canoeing or you want to improve your skills White Water Active is the place.
Right outside our centre is an excellent section of grade 2/3 on the River Dee ideal for teaching paddling skills. The stretch of water we use is that good most of our competitors come to us. So why go anywhere else!
Our paddlesport instructors are all active paddlers who have paddled all over the world. We use staff that have paddled in international competitions and some of the biggest rivers in the world such as the Zambezi. We also have an Olympic Canoe Coach. This experience and enthusiasm to the sport is what we hope to pass on to you.
We have water all year round with a natural water supply, and no problems with dams supplying us. Come any day of the year, apart from Christmas day!

Introduction Session
This is a taster session to try the sport of canoeing/kayaking - suits couples or families who want a fun session combined with learning basic techniques, Two hour session, (Minimum two people)Cost £50 per person

Half Day Course
Want to concentrate on improving your skills or move on to moving water this is the course for you, our instructors will take any level of ability and improve your skills. We will adjust this session to fit your needs, tell us what you are looking for and will make sure you get it, give us a ring if you wish to talk to our Chief Instructor to make sure we can give you what you want. (Please note groups may be made up from more than one booking unless you book a one to one session below)
Cost £60 per personFor more than one person, but the extra time means you can pack in more than the 2 hour taster. You will be able to try out a number of skills according to your level of ability. (Please note groups may be made up from more than one booking)- Cost : £60 pp
We can also run this as a one to one private session for only £75
Full Day Course
You can get a lot out of a full day with our instructors. We tailor all our sessions to fit your needs but this length of time you will see real improvements in your paddling. Our instructors can really improve your confidence or get to grips with your technical paddling skills. Give us a ring and we are happy to discuss exactly what you are looking for. Cost : £120 pp
Again, this can be run as a private course for one person for only £150

The new star awards
We run 1 star and 2 star courses in the British Canoe Union syllabus, this cover both Open Canoeing and Kayaking. We also run 3 Star Kayak. Phone for more information on course availability on 01978 860763.
1 Star
This course can be taken in any type of canoe/kayak. It is taken on flat water and designed for the beginner paddler. This course covers basic boat handling skills. We have Kayaks and Open Canoes so just tell us your preference when you book or bring your own.
Pre-requisites - Ideally able to swim
Length – 1 day – This includes training and assessment

2 Star
This course is taken in a kayak and a canoe. It is like the one star taken on flat water and is designed to improve your skills so you begin to understand how you, your paddle and your craft which ever it is, interact.
The 2 star is a pre-requisite for the Level 1 coach award. We have both
Pre-requisites – you need to be able to swim 25m, have experience of paddling two different craft in 2 different locations and 2 local competitions OR 2 Journeys of 2 or more hours. We can provide this if you require just give us a ring and we can book you in for another day.

3 Star Kayak
This course is aimed at taking you to an intermediate level, you will be able to perform on flat or moving water. This will show that you are able to paddle with people of a similar standard. We use our grade 2 rapids on site. This is a pre requisite for level 2 coach.

- paddled on grade 2 water
There is an additional cost which is paid to the WCA (Welsh Canoe Association)
FAQs
When Can You Go?
Canoeing takes place year round. The water levels are often higher on the winter, but this is by no means the rule. Book in advance but call before your booking to check. We will always strive to meet agreed bookings but reserve the right to change the date or venue if safety reasons require it.Who Can Go?
You can do this from 8 years onwards. Our maximum age so far is 78, can you beat the record?How Many Can Take Part?
Groups of 1-12+.
You Need to Know
All safety equipment is included, but bring your swimming costume and training shoes or boots. If you are doing more than one water- based activity, remember to bring additional dry clothing - and don’t forget your towel! For those of you who are experienced paddlers - need we say more? If this is your first experience - then expect to get very wet.
What is included?
Sessions include all personal kit (Wetsuits, buoyancy aids, helmets, spray decks and paddles as well as our top of the range boats. All prices per person.
