About us
Jimmy Jayes, British and Commonwealth Canoe Slalom champion, opened White Water Active on the banks of the River Dee in Llangollen in 1985 teaching canoeing. Since then he has created the perfect place to come in Wales for adventure activities. We have developed a range of fantastic and exciting activities in and around the beautiful Vale of Llangollen. You can ride the rapids on our 6 - 8 man rafts with our White Water Rafting adventure, scale the magnificent Eglwyseg Escarpment overhanging the Castle Dinas Bran of Arthurian legend with a Climbing and Abseiling trip, or paddle your own canoe (or hire one of ours) on our crystal clear waters. We offer Gorge Walking in deep green canyons, through which rushes foaming white water. You can lose yourself in the peace and tranquility of a wild Welsh gorge only a few miles from the welcome in the valleys we are famous for. All these activities are available to the whole family from 8 years and up. Go on, take the plunge.....who knows where it will take you.
...and we're so easy to get to, just over the Welsh/Shropshire border. Click on the WHERE WE ARE link at the top of the page for a map of the area and directions to our centre. For those lucky
enough to have SATNAV just put in our postcode LL20 8AD and follow the instructions.
Safety
Our Centre has the highest level of approval from AALA, the activity wolrd's govening body, and we are also a Welsh Canoeing Association Affiliated Canoeing and Rafting centre, which means we meet their exacting standards for safety, quality and enjoyment. You can be sure you are in good hands with us.

We have now expanded our range of rafting to include
Ironbridge Rafting
From the UK’s premier outdoor activity provider take a rafting trip with a difference in the heart of England, In November 1777, Abraham Darby III began designing and erecting 378 tons of cast iron, to build a bridge in the Shropshire gorge, on the banks of the River Severn. The bridge was completed in 1779. Now you will have the chance to see it from a very different angle. As well as the world famous bridge the trip takes in one of the most beautiful river valleys in the UK. This is not just your usual rafting trip but one with a difference:
