Aaron is a local to North Wales and a regular across the rest of the UK, he uses this to provide the most valuable education for each learner on every course.

Anyone who wants to up their river safety game, if you just want to feel empowered while paddling with your friends to make a difference in avoiding and solving rescue situations on the water, to aspiring to gaining leadership and coaching qualifications.

BCAB White Water Safety

Ideal for: Paddlers and leaders building safe foundations on moderate whitewater

Duration: 2 days

Certification: BCAB Moderate Water Safety

  Basics of dynamic river risk assessment

  Efficient swimming, wading

  Boat -based rescues

  Throwline skills & contact rescues

  Equipment use

  Group management & communication

 

BCAB Advanced Water Safety

Ideal for: Leaders operating on steeper, more technical rivers

Duration: 2 or 3 days

Certification: BCAB Advanced Water Safety

Prerequisite: Confident paddling on Grade 3 equivalent waters

  Advanced hydrology & decision making

  Contact rescues in powerful features

  Rope work: tethers, live-bait & mechanical advantage

  Entrapment response & pinned craft management

  Scenario-based leadership & rescue strategy

 

Rescue 3 – Whitewater Rescue Technician: Professional (WRT-Pro)

Ideal for: Guides, safety kayakers, coaches, river professionals

Duration: 2–3 days

Certification: Rescue 3 Europe WRT-Pro

What you’ll learn:

  Whitewater swimming & defensive movement

  Rope systems, tethers & live-bait rescues

  Boat-based & tethered raft rescues

  Mechanical advantage systems

  Entrapment management, extraction & incident command

Prerequisites

  Physically fit and confident swimming in moving water

  Personal paddling kit (helmet, PFD, throwbag, knife, whistle, prusiks, karabiners, sling, footwear etc.)

  For Advanced / WRT-Pro: prior whitewater experience recommended (typically Grade 3)

FAQ

Do I need to be an advanced paddler?
Moderate Water Safety is suitable for developing paddlers. Advanced and WRT-Pro require confident whitewater skills (typically Grade 3).
Can these courses be run at our centre or club?
Yes. Aaron delivers courses across the UK.
Are certificates included?
Assessment is included where required. Governing body registration fees are separate.
What equipment do I need?
A full kit list is supplied when you book. Technical rescue equipment is provided for teaching; personal PPE is required.
